Designed for instrumentalists wishing to work on interpretation, improvisation, and listening, it allows confrontation with pieces that shaped the modal and hard bop jazz aesthetic, featuring particularly formative harmonic progressions and forms.

Beyond simply "playing over a chart," this work will especially interest pianists and musicians curious about accompaniment mechanisms: voicings, comping, rhythmic phrasing, and interaction with the rhythm section. The goal is to develop credible comping, better support a soloist, and enrich harmonic vocabulary in various contexts (modal, blues, standards with changes).

The list of tunes offers a coherent and musical journey, perfect for building a practice routine: All Blues, Nardis, So What, Eighty-One, Freddie Freeloader, Joshua, Milestones (New), Blue In Green, and Seven Steps To Heaven.
