blackmagic-design-micro-converter-sdi-to-hdmi-12g-379926
Micro Converter SDI to HDMI 12G

An Evolution Designed for 4K Workflows: 12G Generation Serving Monitoring

This Micro Converter SDI to HDMI 12G continues the Micro Converter line with a clear focus: meeting the current demands of sets and mobile control rooms working in Ultra HD and 4K DCI up to 60p. Compared to older converters limited to lower data rates, 12G-SDI support greatly expands compatibility (formats, frame rates, environments) while maintaining the "pocket tool" approach: a discreet, easy-to-integrate, and robust enclosure suitable for broadcast use.

The most significant new feature for monitoring is the addition of a 33-point 3D LUT. It allows aligning the display across multiple screens and maintaining consistent color intent, even when the set mixes monitors from different brands or consumer displays.

Who It's For and Use Cases: Set, Mobile Control Room, Post-Production, and Integration

This SDI to HDMI converter is aimed at camera operators, camera assistants, DITs, video technicians, OB van operators, and studios needing to connect an SDI source (camera, switcher, router, recorder) to an HDMI screen, including in 4K. It is particularly suited for "run and gun" setups: cages, rigs, field monitors, lightweight carts, or temporary control stations.

In post-production, it facilitates connecting SDI equipment to HDMI displays while providing a control layer via LUT to achieve consistent rendering. On location, USB-C power simplifies setup: battery, hub, monitor power supply, or power bank depending on the context.

Conversion, Compatibility, and Color Consistency: Key Points for Daily Use

12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0: Smooth 4K up to 60p

Thanks to 12G-SDI, the Micro Converter SDI to HDMI 12G supports a wide range of data rates and standards, from SD up to 4K DCI. The HDMI 2.0 output enables the use of UHD/4K monitors with high frame rates, ideal for sports, live events, or any shoot requiring 50/60p.

33-point 3D LUT: "Compliant" Monitoring Across Screens

The loadable 3D LUT is a major asset when you need to display an accurate conversion (look, technical correction, color space matching). In practice, you can standardize appearance across several monitors, reduce differences between a set monitor and a client monitor, or secure a display closer to broadcast intent. The LUT is managed via a utility, allowing quick adaptation of the converter to a production or post-production chain.

Automatic Detection, 3G-SDI Level A/B, and DCI Handling

Automatic multi-format detection avoids unnecessary adjustments and limits errors when switching cameras or standards. Support for 3G-SDI Level A/B improves compatibility with various equipment, while DCI format support (2K DCI and 4K DCI) meets the requirements of certain cinema workflows. The HDMI-side EDID also contributes to more reliable negotiation with displays for stable video return.

Loop-through SDI Output and USB-C Power: Easy Field Integration

The loop-through SDI output is ideal for daisy-chaining a signal to a second device (another converter, recorder, additional monitoring) without complicating cabling. USB-C serves both power and configuration/update functions: a real flexibility gain for compact and fast installations.

Technical
