evans-tt10ec2s-peau-ec2s-transparente-10-78333
TT10EC2S - EC2S CLEAR 10

Historical Context and Positioning Within the Range

For over 60 years, EVANS has established itself as a benchmark in drumhead innovation, with an approach focused on the practical needs of drummers. The EC2 series follows this logic by offering a solution designed to quickly achieve a clean, balanced, and usable sound, whether in rehearsal, studio, or on stage. Within the EVANS lineup, the EC2 Transparent targets drummers who want a controlled and homogeneous sound across the entire kit, with integrated control that simplifies tom tuning and stabilizes the sound from one gig to another.

Who This Drum/Instrument Is For

The EVANS EC2 Transparent 10-inch head is aimed at beginner drummers seeking easier tuning and an immediately coherent sound, as well as intermediate and advanced drummers looking for reliable and consistent response in real-world situations (rehearsal, live, recording). Its balanced profile, with a clear attack and controlled sustain, is particularly suited to styles where toms need to remain clear in the mix: rock, pop, metal, fusion, gospel, and contemporary music in general. On a multi-tom kit, it also helps to even out the tonal color across different diameters.

Features and Innovations

The EC2 Transparent combines a double ply film with an SST ring placed on the underside: the goal is to control harmonics and frame the sustain without completely muting the fundamental note. The SST design is size-optimized, allowing for a musical and coherent behavior from one tom to another, rather than applying identical control across all diameters. EVANS also incorporates Level 360 technology, designed to improve the seating of the head on the bearing edge, facilitate faster tuning, and stabilize tuning even when the drum experiences temperature changes or playing tension variations.

If you like the feel and attack of a clear head, this version will emphasize definition and rebound. And if you prefer more roundness and a softer aesthetic, note that this series is also available in a sanded version with a translucent appearance.

Sound Characteristics

Thanks to the double ply 7 mil + 7 mil, the feel under the stick is more stable and the projection more "focused" than with a single ply head. You get a crisp attack, a well-defined tom note, and less intrusive sustain, which helps keep shells clean, especially in medium to low tunings.

The SST ring acts as an integrated harmonic control: it reduces unwanted frequencies and homogenizes the response across the entire kit. The result is a more balanced sound, often perceived as "ready for the mix," with less need for external dampeners, while preserving the character of the shell.

On a maple drum, the EC2 Transparent highlights precise attack while containing resonances, helping to maintain the natural warmth of maple without harmonic overflow. On birch, known for its attack and projection, the SST ring helps smooth the high end and makes the strike more controlled, particularly useful in amplified contexts. On mahogany or rounder woods, the head helps retain a present and focused low end, with a shorter, more usable note. On poplar shells, it provides durability, better definition, and appreciable consistency for easier progress and recording.

Technical specifications

<colgroup><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"></colgroup>

Category

Tom

Diameter

10 "

Head finish

Clear

Color

Transparent

Shaping

Twin Ply

<colgroup><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"></colgroup>

Type

tom head

Thickness

7 mil per ply

Finish

transparent

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0984/0872/6803/files/7a32d46d1a8396bb1aba8a1a5564faf2d8bf6fef_TT10EC2S.jpg?v=1792619857
