meinl-splash-8-pure-alloy-custom-379138
8" PURE ALLOY CUSTOM SPLASH

Historical context and positioning in the range

With the Pure Alloy Custom series, Meinl offers a decidedly modern approach to cymbals: a clear and articulated character, dynamics that are easy to control, and a sonic aesthetic suited to contemporary setups. The 8-inch splash fits this logic as a compact effect cymbal, designed to add sharp percussive touches without overwhelming the sound space, while maintaining a timbral identity consistent with the rest of the range.

Who this drum/splash is for

This splash is aimed both at the intermediate drummer looking to enrich their kit with an easy-to-use effect cymbal, and at the advanced musician seeking a reliable, precise, and consistent splash for live performance. Its size and behavior make it particularly relevant for styles where definition and clean attacks matter: pop, funk, modern rock, indie, gospel, urban music, but also metal (for short accents) whenever a clear punctuation without excessive sustain is desired.

Features and innovations

The Meinl Pure Alloy Custom 8-inch splash is designed to multiply orchestration possibilities around the kit: quick "splash" accents above a hi-hat/ride pair, short responses on snare drum figures, or more creative effects when combined with another cymbal (stack). Its compact size promotes instant vibration, while maintaining a controlled feel under the stick, even at moderate volume. In a studio-oriented setup, it helps shape clean transients and place punctuations without masking melodic elements.

Sound

An 8-inch splash is distinguished by a very fast attack and a short decay: this is exactly what makes it so effective for marking rhythmic intent without lengthening the note. Within the Pure Alloy Custom family, a controlled brightness and marked definition are generally sought, allowing the splash to remain clear even when the band plays densely. The result is a clear and clean splash effect, with enough projection to stand out, but a sustain that fades quickly to let the groove breathe.

As with all cymbals of this type, its personality also comes from the balance between profile, thickness, and finish. In this size, the touch is often direct: the cymbal speaks quickly, delivers a sense of precision, and suits drummers who build their dynamics with the right hand (ghost notes, fine orchestrations) while keeping sharp accents. Positioned as the main splash or as a secondary splash (above the hi-hat, on the ride side, or near a high tom), it becomes a formidable tool to energize transitions and enrich colors without complicating the set.

Technical specifications

<colgroup><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"></colgroup>

Brand

Meinl

Design

effect cymbal with quick response

Series

Pure Alloy Custom

Attack

fast

Type

Splash cymbal

Sustain

short

Diameter

8 inches

Character

bright and defined, designed to remain clear in the mix

Alloy

Pure Alloy (series alloy)

Mounting

compatible with standard cymbal stands (felts and cymbal post)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0984/0872/6803/files/513bc23f39c18905937600caf50e70d6439643cf_PAC8S.jpg?v=1792578195
