meinl-triangle-tril-35709
LIQUID TRIANGLE

Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

With the Liquid Triangle, MEINL continues the tradition of "effect" percussion instruments designed to expand the palette of modern drummers and percussionists. This model clearly positions itself as a sound creation instrument, halfway between the orchestral triangle and a sound design object, ideal for adding an immediately recognizable timbral signature in drum kits, percussion setups, or music for media.

Who This Drum/Triangle Is For

This triangle is aimed at drummers, percussionists, and composers seeking original colors, from intermediate to expert levels, yet remains very accessible: simply striking it produces a rich response. It excels in styles where atmosphere is as important as rhythm: film music, theater, ambient, post-rock, experimental metal, electro-acoustic, as well as for punctuation in more traditional grooves.

Features and Innovations

The design is based on a solid steel triangle firmly welded to a steel shell forming an internal chamber. This chamber, filled with water and sealed by a very thin plate, enriches the sound with complex and shifting harmonics. The overall orientation of the instrument influences the perceived pitch of certain resonances, allowing organic modulation through simple hand movements, without accessories or adjustments.

Sound

The triangular part is played like a traditional triangle: sharp attack, metallic brightness, and controllable sustain depending on the striking area. The "liquid" chamber adds a more unstable dimension, with resonant harmonics that seem to evolve over time, perfect for creating tension, mystery, or depth.

Depending on your gesture, you can switch from a precise percussive sound (striking with the beater) to more continuous and expressive textures. The instrument can be struck or bowed on different areas, multiplying timbral points: edges, corners, chamber surface... Tilting the whole unit changes the water's response and the perception of harmonics, producing a subtle acoustic "pitch shifting" effect, ideal for sound design.

Technical specifications

<colgroup><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"></colgroup>

Instrument size

Medium

Accessories included

Sticks

Category

percussion

Color

Black

Type

triangle

Finishing

Nickel-plated

Material

steel

<colgroup><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"></colgroup>

Chamber filling

water

Included beater

metal

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0984/0872/6803/files/5b8f6fb41506de8db5cf070d9900ca807f333721_MEINL_LIQUID_TRIANGLE.jpg?v=1793375611
