mxr-tap-tempo-m199-235549
Tap Tempo M199

An indispensable "utility" accessory for a modern pedalboard

On stage or in the studio, a good delay becomes even more effective once it can lock to the tempo of the song. The MXR Tap Tempo fits this "plug-and-play" philosophy typical of pedalboard accessories: a simple, sturdy, and compact box designed to add immediate foot control without altering your audio chain. Where the built-in Tap Tempo on a pedal might be too small, too close to another switch, or simply absent, this external switch provides a clear and ergonomic solution.

Rather than seeking complexity, MXR goes straight to the point: a dedicated footswitch for tempo, designed to integrate neatly into your setup and survive real-world use conditions (tight pedalboards, quick changes, repeated presses). This is typically the kind of accessory that doesn't "make the sound" by itself but immediately improves playing comfort and rhythmic precision.

For whom and in what contexts?

The MXR Tap Tempo is aimed at all guitarists (and more broadly musicians using pedals) who play with synchronized repeats: from rock to blues, including pop, indie, and ambient atmospheres. If you switch from one song to another with different tempos, or if you like to set your delays in eighth notes, triplets, or dotted rhythms, an external Tap Tempo quickly becomes second nature.

In live settings, it allows you to adjust the tempo in a fraction of a second, without bending down or touching your delay pedal's settings. In the studio, it simplifies takes when you're searching for the right repeat speed by ear or when you want to quickly recall a precise tempo. It suits both beginners who want obvious control and seasoned musicians who demand reliable sync and optimized pedalboard ergonomics.

Technical specifications

<colgroup><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"></colgroup>

Effects

Selector

Use

pedalboard

Technology

Analog

Color

Grey

Format

Pedal

Power supply included

No

Inputs

Jack

Power supply

9V battery, DC 9 V

EQ

No

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0984/0872/6803/files/4e78eebb10bbc243589a7b1b30bf641b95cf4c91_MXR_M199.png?v=1793272608
