orange-amps-or15h-noir-163038
OR15H BLACK

Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

The OR15H Black embodies the "British Rock" spirit that contributed to Orange's reputation in the early 70s, with a more vintage and organic approach than the typical "in-your-face" compact models. Don't be fooled by its size: this head is designed to recapture the feel of a characterful amp in an easy-to-transport format, without compromising musicality.

Who This Amp Is For

This head is aimed at demanding beginners up to experienced musicians who want a simple-to-set all-tube amp capable of real nuance. In the studio, the 7 Watt mode helps push the power stage earlier to get grit at controlled volume. In rehearsal and live settings, its 15 Watts are more than enough with a suitable cabinet, even when playing alongside a drummer. Style-wise, the OR15H feels at home in blues rock, classic rock, indie, garage, and even thicker genres like stoner when you crank the gain or boost it with a pedal.

Features and Innovations

The Orange OR15H Black goes straight to the point: one single channel, but a true range of controls thanks to the Gain / Volume pair. Gain sets the amount of saturation and compression feel, while Volume adjusts the overall level. The 3-band EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble) effectively sculpts the spectrum to suit your guitar, cabinet, and band mix. A key point for pedal enthusiasts: the effects loop is present and driven by a 12AT7 tube, which helps maintain good dynamics with delays, reverbs, and modulations placed after the amp's saturation.

The Sound

Thanks to its all-tube design (12AX7 preamp and EL84 power tubes) and Class A operation, the OR15H Black offers a very "alive" response: sharp attack, present mids, and an overdrive that builds progressively. At low gain, you get a warm and already textured clean tone, perfect for pick playing or arpeggios. Increasing the gain shifts the amp into a vintage crunch and then denser saturation, with a British grain that is less aggressive and rounder than a modern ultra-tight approach. The OR15H loves interaction: lower your guitar volume to brighten the tone, push it to bring out bite, and let the amp work to achieve that natural compression typical of tubes.

Technical specifications

@media(max-width:632px){table[data-wb-spec]{display:grid;grid-template-columns:minmax(0,1fr)
