shure-micro-canon-premium-taille-l-356927
MICRO BARREL PREMIUM SIZE L

A "broadcast" approach designed to adapt to the field

The Shure VP89 fits within the logic of a professional shotgun microphone intended for broadcast and demanding shoots: documentaries, fiction, interviews, institutional recordings, or premium web content. Its distinctive feature is its modular design: instead of multiplying complete microphones, the length of the shotgun is adapted to the situation via interchangeable capsules. This philosophy optimizes bulk, placement, and pickup angle while maintaining a consistent sonic signature across configurations.

Depending on the capsule used, the coverage angle varies: 70 deg with the short VP89S capsule, 50 deg with the medium VP89M capsule, and 30 deg with the long VP89L capsule. This modularity is particularly relevant when alternating, within the same day, between indoor, outdoor, boom pole, and camera-mounted setups, or between close dialogue and wider scenes.

Who is the Shure VP89 for, and in which applications does it make a difference?

The VP89 is aimed at videographers, sound recordists, journalists, ENG teams, broadcast technicians, and content creators seeking a wired shotgun microphone capable of delivering a clean and usable recording straight from capture. Thanks to its lobar hypercardioid directivity, it is designed to favor the source (typically the voice) while controlling off-axis sounds: room reverb, movement, air conditioning, set noise, or street ambience.

In practice, it naturally finds its place:

on a boom pole for dialogue recording (placement above the frame, controlled distance), on lightweight shoots when a compact setup is desired, or in more directional configurations when the priority is to capture the voice in a busy environment. The self-noise level of 15 dB and the maximum SPL of 132 dB allow for both delicate takes and more dynamic scenes while maintaining a safety margin.

Technical specifications

<colgroup><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"></colgroup>

Sensitivity

-33,5 dBV/Pa (21,1mV)

Nominal impedance

115 Ω

SPL max

132 dB

Self-noise

15 dB

Frequency response -
