syos-smoky-6-bleu-saxophone-alto-439147
Smoky 6 Blue (Alto Sax)

The Syos Originals signature: a modern mouthpiece with a distinctive character

The Syos Originals collection was designed to offer saxophonists mouthpieces that are accessible, expressive and instantly recognisable. The Smoky model embodies this approach with a soft, enveloping and elegant sound identity. Its Phantom Blue finishing gives it an original visual presence, ideal for musicians who want to combine aesthetic personality with playing comfort.

Developed through acoustic research and tested by musicians from a wide range of backgrounds, Syos mouthpieces prioritise a natural playing feel. The Originals series therefore aims to strike a good balance between ease of response, attack precision and harmonic richness, giving musicians complete freedom to shape their phrasing.

An expressive jazz mouthpiece for developing your own phrasing

The Syos Originals Smoky is intended for advanced beginner, intermediate and experienced saxophonists looking for a round, inspiring jazz sound. Its warm character is particularly well suited to ballads, cool jazz, acoustic ensembles, popular music and settings where tonal subtlety takes precedence over highly incisive brightness.

Its balanced design makes daily practice at home as comfortable as performing on stage. It allows players to approach attacks with ease, create delicate nuances and maintain a strong presence in their sound. Its tonal aesthetic readily evokes Paul Desmond's mellow, singing style, with a soft color that enhances melodies and legato lines.

Large chamber and curved baffle: a round, projecting sound

The Smoky's character is based on the combination of a large chamber and a curved baffle. The large chamber contributes to a dark, rich and warm sound, with an appreciable sense of width in the middle and low registers. It encourages a less aggressive color, particularly suited to saxophonists looking for a velvety, musical tone.

The curved baffle, in turn, enhances projection. The sound retains its depth while gaining presence, helping the musician be heard without having to force the airflow. The 6 tip opening offers a balanced response: it leaves room for expression and dynamic variation while maintaining reassuring control for working on articulation, intonation and breath stability.

Technical specifications

<colgroup><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"></colgroup>

Category

alto saxophone

Color

Blue

Material

Plastic

<colgroup><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"><col style="width:25%"></colgroup>

Tip opening

6

Collection

Syos Originals

Specific instrument not indicated

please check compatibility with your saxophone before ordering

Sound style

round, warm, dark and expressive

Model

Smoky

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0984/0872/6803/files/822ec7b3766d9641859f49aa26989b8e19a5046a_SYOS_ALSMOKYBLUE.jpg?v=1792524183
