Summary of This Method
Blues has been at the heart of the jazz language since the 1920s: mastering its color, articulation, and feeling immediately transforms your approach to standards. This method (third revised edition) offers a journey through 11 blues designed to develop a more lyrical improvisation, better grounded rhythmically and more harmonically coherent, while maintaining real playing pleasure thanks to lively and inspiring accompaniment.
Each piece is presented in different keys and with contrasting moods, from slow blues to rock, including a 6/8 modal. To facilitate practice, the chord symbols and corresponding scales are written directly on the staff for each recorded track: an excellent support to strengthen your reflexes on progressions, target characteristic notes, and build solid phrases.
This selection naturally follows volumes 1 or 21, with suggested prerequisites (volumes 24, 1, 21). The program notably includes: "Mr. Super Hip," "Horizontal (C Blues)," "6/8 Modal Blues," "Slow Blues in G," "Slow Blues in F," "Fast Blues in F," "Fast Blues in Bb," "Minor Blues in C," "Bird Blues," "Home Stretch," and "Long-meter Jazz/Rock."
