The Octamizer follows the tradition of analog bass octavers: a generous, organic octave down with that "fat" quality sought after when filling space in a trio, thickening a riff, or creating the illusion of a bigger amp. Its approach is decidedly musical: no menus, no presets, just direct controls to quickly find the right balance between attack, depth, and definition.

Who Is the Octamizer For (and in Which Styles)?

This pedal is aimed at bassists who want to expand their palette without complicating their pedalboard. In funk, it thickens the low end and transforms a line into an irresistible hook. In rock and stoner, it provides a formidable foundation to double a riff. In dub, reggae, or heavier music, it can descend into abyssal zones while remaining usable in a mix.

It also works very well in the studio to layer a controlled octave under a clean take, and in live settings to instantly switch from a "standard" bass to an almost synth-like foundation. To optimize tracking of an analog octaver, it is generally placed early in the chain (before saturations that are too compressed or rich in harmonics) to provide a clear and stable signal.

Controls and Design: Simple on the Surface, Powerful in Result

The Octamizer focuses on immediate ergonomics with four controls, each having a real musical impact. The two independent volumes (Clean Level and Octave Level ) allow going from a subtle reinforcement (like a "doubler") to a mix dominated by the sub for very modern sounds.

The Clean Tone control acts as a wide-spectrum "tilt" EQ: it can boost brightness by reducing lows, or conversely thicken the bass by taming the highs. This is particularly effective for bringing out the clean attack above a very present octave, or for pushing the mix toward a more "synth" sound by finely balancing the two signals.

The Octave Filter is a multipole low-pass filter applied only to the octave sound. It allows moving from a round and creamy sub (perfect for supporting a groove without drawing attention) to more edgy and aggressive textures, ideal when you want a more defined, biting, or "effect" octave.

The Sound

The character of the Octamizer is typically Aguilar: a solid low end, an immediate sense of depth, and a very "under the fingers" dynamic response. With a darker filtered octave setting, you get a velvety sub that blends into the mix and gives a sense of power without muddying the playing. Opening the filter and adjusting the Clean Tone makes the octave more present and can become more incisive, perfect for pick lines or patterns that need to cut through.

By adjusting the clean/octave balance, you can target three sound families: subtle reinforcement (low octave), massive doubling (balanced mix), or synth-style texture (dominant octave, adjusted filter and tilt EQ).
