The Aguilar OBP-3 is aimed at both demanding bassists and technicians or luthiers who build or optimize an instrument. It excels in funk and slap (attack, brightness, solid low end), rock and metal (present mids, definition), and pop/studio (balance, fine control). On stage, it allows you to quickly adjust your place in the mix without relying solely on the amp-handy when stage conditions change from one song to another.

Controls, Settings, and Installation: Designed for Efficiency

The OBP-3 offers three EQ controls (bass, mids, treble) with a crisp and musical action. The control configuration is optimized for simple wiring: bass and treble on a combined potentiometer, and mids on a separate potentiometer. The mini-toggle switch allows you to select the mid frequency (400 Hz or 800 Hz) to adjust your tone: rounder and "vintage-muscular" at 400 Hz, sharper and more articulated at 800 Hz. The 9V or 18V power supply lets you choose between a standard setup or enhanced headroom for dynamic playing and high-output pickups.

The Sound

Expect a powerful, clean, and highly controllable sound. The low end gains solidity and impact, the highs add presence without making the playing harsh, and the mid section lets you immediately shape the bass's personality: either by thickening the body of the sound or by bringing out attack and definition.
