The Precision of a Modern Classic
The OC18 Dual Set Plus follows the tradition of great modern large-diaphragm microphones, featuring an "Open Acoustic" design approach that minimizes internal resonances for a natural and accurate sound. Each OC18 is factory sorted and matched, and can be effortlessly paired with any other OC18 or OC818 in cardioid mode for consistent stereo setups.Who Is It For and What Are Its Uses?
Designed for demanding sound engineers, producers, and creators, the OC18 excels in stereo on pianos, acoustic ensembles, drum overheads, guitars, vocals, and ambient recordings. Its low noise sensitivity and high SPL tolerance make it a reliable choice both in the studio and for mobile recording.Features Tailored for the Studio
Low-End and Powerful Source Management
The three-position analog low-cut filter (40, 80, 160 Hz) eliminates rumbles, handling noise, and proximity effect without sacrificing clarity. The -10 dB and -20 dB pads extend the headroom to prevent saturation, allowing the microphone to be placed closer to intense sources while preserving dynamics.CKR6 Capsule and Open Acoustic Architecture
The handmade ceramic CKR6 capsule ensures exemplary dimensional stability and consistent performance. Coupled with the Open Acoustic architecture, it delivers fast transients, detailed midrange, and silky highs, with a coherent stereo image when matched.Technical specifications

Questions frequently asked
Is this set suitable for stereo piano or overhead drum miking?
Both microphones are factory selected and matched to ensure a consistent stereo image. This setup is suitable for pianos, drum overheads, acoustic ensembles, and ambient recordings.
Can the OC18 be placed close to a drum kit or a very loud sound source?
Thanks to the switchable pads of -10 dB and -20 dB, the headroom before distortion is increased on powerful sources. The maximum SPL is 148 dB SPL, or 158 dB SPL with attenuation.
What power supply and connectors are required for the Austrian Audio OC18 Dual Set Plus?
Connection is via XLR and the required power is 48 V phantom, with a current consumption below 2.2 mA.
What high-pass filter settings are available?
The analog high-pass filter offers three positions: 40 Hz, 80 Hz, and 160 Hz. The 40 Hz and 80 Hz settings are second order. The 160 Hz position is first order down to 80 Hz, then second order below.
What sonic character does the CKR6 capsule provide?
The hand-made ceramic CKR6 capsule is paired with the Open Acoustic architecture which limits internal resonances. This design promotes fast transients, detailed mids, and smooth highs.
