A faithful reinterpretation of the first "blackguard" Teles
Designed based on requests from musicians seeking Telecaster sounds from very specific eras, the Blackguard Tele Series relies on meticulous research. The Flat '50 represents the very early years, with a denser and more muscular identity, ideal if you like a Tele with a strong personality without losing the twang DNA.
Who is it for and what styles?
The Flat '50 is an excellent choice if you want to push a tube amp with more body and output level. It excels in blues, country, jazz, funk, indie, pop, britpop, and classic rock, delivering deeper lows and growling mids while maintaining clear pick articulation.
What defines the Flat '50 sound: power, low-mids, and natural sustain
With its flat-profile Alnico 5 magnets and thicker zinc-plated steel baseplate, the bridge pickup delivers a "gritty" and generous sound with an impressive foundation. The low register extends deeper, mids are full, and sustain appears naturally, resulting in a "wider" Tele that stands out more in the mix. Regarding suitability, the Flat '50 set (like the Flat '52) pairs particularly well with maple fingerboards or any configuration needing increased output and a fatter tone.
