Martin Standard Series: The Nazareth Heritage Serving a Classic

Handcrafted in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, the Standard Series embodies Martin tradition: dovetail neck joint, proven lutherie, and selection of solid woods. On this D-41 with a Sunburst finish, the "Golden Era" approach emphasizes a livelier response and playing feel inspired by the golden years, while maintaining the balance and reliability that the Standard Series is known for.

For Which Guitarist and Styles?

The Martin D-41 1935 Sunburst Golden Era is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a high-end, expressive folk guitar capable of effortlessly filling the space. The dreadnought format excels in strumming, flatpicking, bluegrass, modern folk, and vocal accompaniment, while remaining very convincing in fingerpicking thanks to its harmonic richness.

Sound

The solid Sitka spruce top provides attack, clarity, and excellent dynamic range: the harder you play, the more the guitar responds. The solid East Indian rosewood back and sides add depth in the lows, a silky brightness, and complex harmonics, with naturally long sustain.

The Golden Era X-bracing (GE) promotes a more "breathing" resonance, with a vintage feel, better openness, and strong projection. Lutherie details (angled nut, long diamond transition at the headstock, redesigned heel, Golden Era Modern Belly bridge) contribute to efficient vibration transmission and smoother playability during long sessions.
