From the DAC-ST Heritage to the "Transparency and Musicality" Philosophy of the CONVERT Range

With the CONVERT-2, Dangerous Music continues the spirit of the renowned DAC-ST, which became a reference in studio monitoring and mastering chains. However, the CONVERT series was developed from the ground up with a clear demand: to leave no room for compromise. The result is a D/A conversion focused on "signal truth," capable of reproducing both micro-dynamics and transient impact, while maintaining a musicality that makes mix and mastering decisions clearer. In a chain where every link counts (conversion, clock, monitoring, acoustics), the CONVERT-2 aims to "raise the bar" by delivering more finesse, stability, and depth to the listening experience.

A Converter for Mastering, Mixing, and Demanding Monitoring

The Dangerous Music CONVERT-2 targets sound engineers, producers, and studios seeking a reference stereo DAC to validate critical choices: tonal balance, low-end foundation, stereo width, depth, and handling of processing (EQ, compression, saturation). It is also perfectly suited for hybrid environments: output from a digital audio workstation to an analog chain, return listening, before/after processing comparisons, and archiving. Thanks to its integrated volume control, it can also serve as the monitoring hub in a minimalist setup or integrate into a more complete system with a dedicated controller.

Key Features and Practical Studio Benefits

Bi-directional USB: Easily Re-record a Processing Chain

A rare highlight on a D/A converter: the USB connection is not just a simple audio "player." When connected via USB as an interface, the AES/SPDIF-2 input can be re-injected back to USB to re-capture within the session a signal that has passed through an external chain. This is ideal for printing a processed version, conducting "with/without" comparisons, or documenting a mastering chain without complicating routing.

Integrated Volume Control with Relay "Trim Bypass" Mode

The CONVERT-2 includes a volume potentiometer allowing you to connect a pair of speakers directly and control the listening level. For studios equipped with a monitoring controller (for example, a Monitor ST), the "Trim Bypass" mode removes the potentiometer from the signal path via a relay/switch: you maintain an optimized audio path and delegate volume control to your main monitoring system.

Very Low Jitter Clock, Precision Metering, and Studio Integration

Temporal stability is a key element of high-end conversion: the CONVERT-2 features a very low jitter clock designed to provide a stable stereo image and clean transient reproduction. Ergonomically, the extremely precise metering (inherited from the Dangerous Master) facilitates level reading, while compatibility with the remote functions of the Monitor ST/SR and the presence of a digital thru for connecting external metering enhance integration into professional setups.
