Sound characteristics

The combination of laminate maple (top, back, sides) and 16" archtop format delivers a clear response, with controlled bass and precise highs, very useful for complex chords that remain clear. The P-90 Dogear pickups provide a rich midrange tone, both warm on the neck pickup and more biting at the bridge, with excellent touch sensitivity. The electronics (3-position switch, 500k Linear Taper potentiometers, and 0.022 capacitors) allow for a transition from smooth jazz tones to more aggressive textures, ideal for crunch sounds.

To maintain the original spirit and feel, a set of D'Addario NYXL 12-52 strings (or equivalent gauge) is perfectly suitable. A good quality 6.35 mm jack cable and a few picks of varying hardness are enough to explore the full dynamics of the P-90s, from muted playing to more pronounced attacks.
