Essential Information About the Expressive E Osmose CE Synthesizer

  • 61-key expressive keyboard with per-note control (MPE) to play chords where each note can be bent, vibrated, and articulated independently.

  • Ultra-natural gestures: Tap, Press, Pitch Bend, Vibrato, Shake, Strum, and Expressive Note-Off, to recreate sensations close to an acoustic instrument.

  • Ctrl-e included: software ecosystem designed for expression, with 900+ ready-to-play presets, a dynamic browser, and 8 macros already mapped per sound.

  • Modern studio integration: MPE modes, traditional MIDI, and DAW control, plus comprehensive connectivity (USB-C, MIDI DIN, assignable pedals).

A New Gateway to Expressive Playing, in the Spirit of Osmose

Osmose CE features the same expressive keyboard technology as the Osmose synthesizer that introduced Expressive E's approach: here, the goal is not to "control" an instrument, but to play it. Whereas software expression has long been hindered by complex MPE setups, variable compatibility, and overly technical workflows, Osmose CE offers a more direct approach: an incredibly responsive keyboard paired with Ctrl-e, a sound environment designed to respond naturally to gestures from the very first note.

Positioned as a next-generation expressive controller, Osmose CE targets creators who want to enrich their virtual instruments, plugins, and modern sessions without multiplying settings. You can quickly switch from a "plug and play" use in Ctrl-e to advanced MPE scenarios, or to more classic traditional MIDI control, while maintaining a coherent instrument focused on performance.

Who Osmose CE Is For: Studio, Stage, and Sound Design

Osmose CE is aimed at intermediate to expert musicians, as well as demanding producers who want finer expression than classic velocity and aftertouch. It is also suitable for motivated less-experienced users, provided they are eager to explore a more physical playing style: the keyboard rewards precision and invites developing a true technique, like on a living instrument.

In terms of styles, it is a natural ally for ambient, melodic techno, synthwave, pop, electronic, and especially film scoring and sound design, where micro-variations in attack, pressure, and release transform a simple note into an expressive phrase. In live settings, the benefits are immediate: finger vibratos, precise bends within a chord, note-off articulations, and real-time control that avoids "drawing" emotion with a mouse.
