Essential Information About the Fender American Vintage II 1965 Stratocaster Sonic Blue Guitar

  • 1965 Spirit: Transition look, 3-ply 11-hole pickguard, and vintage feel true to the era.

  • Glossy nitro finish: "old school" touch, lively resonance, and natural aging over time.

  • Pure Vintage '65 "Gray Bottom" pickups (SSS): clarity, dynamics, and the famous Strat "quack" in positions 2 and 4.

  • Pure Vintage synchronized tremolo with stamped steel saddles: precise attack and authentic character oscillations.

1965: A Stratocaster at the Heart of the Rock Decade

With the American Vintage II, Fender revives specifications that marked history. This "1965" Stratocaster captures a pivotal year: Transition logo, iconic aesthetics, and typical components of the time. In the range, it targets guitarists who want a Fender electric guitar with a proudly vintage character, down to the "1965 C" neck profile and the round laminated rosewood fingerboard.

For Whom and Which Styles?

Designed for intermediate to advanced musicians (and vintage enthusiasts), it shines in styles where the Stratocaster reigns: surf, blues, sixties rock, pop, funk, and indie. Its vintage radius and "old school" feel favor chords, punchy rhythms, and controlled bends, while offering a very expressive palette with both pick and fingers.

Sound

The alder body provides a natural balance: firm lows, present mids, and clear highs, ideal for cutting through a mix without harshness. The maple neck adds attack and precision, while the round laminated rosewood fingerboard slightly softens the upper spectrum for a rounder, singing tone. The three Pure Vintage '65 Gray Bottom single-coil pickups deliver typical definition: crystalline clean tones, controlled bite in crunch, and excellent response to volume variations. The 5-position selector switch facilitates versatility, from full sounds (neck/bridge) to very scooped and snappy intermediate positions. The synchronized tremolo completes the setup with ideal musicality for subtle vibratos and Hendrix-style effects.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original spirit and tension, opt for electric strings in gauge .010-.046 (nickel). A standard strap (compatible with original strap buttons) and a good quality 6.35 mm jack cable are essentials. A tuner and a guitar stand also perfectly suit this Stratocaster format.
