Essential Information About the Focal Trio11 Be Monitoring Speaker

  • 3-way active monitor with FOCUS mode: instantly switches from 3-way listening to 2-way listening to validate the translation of your mixes.

  • Deep and controlled bass thanks to the 10-inch subwoofer, optimized ports, and high excursion, for precise definition down to very low frequencies.

  • Top-level volume and dynamics: Class G amplification for bass and midrange, maximum SPL rated at 118 dB peak at 1 m in 3-way mode.

  • Flexible installation: rotatable midrange/tweeter baffle for horizontal or vertical orientation, and equalization settings to adapt the speaker to the room.

Trio11 Be: the high-end "Trio" for nearfield and midfield control

With the Trio11 Be, Focal takes further the approach that made the Trio range successful: offering a reference listening experience capable of adapting to multiple working contexts without changing systems. Designed for demanding control rooms, it combines true 3-way operation for detailed analysis (spectral balance, depth, micro-dynamics) and a 2-way mode (FOCUS) to regain a more "compact" listening experience immediately comparable to other playback environments.

This version is distinguished notably by the integration of new high-efficiency, high-power-handling drivers (5-inch midrange and 10-inch subwoofer), as well as the adoption of recent acoustic and electronic technologies from the brand. The result: an active monitoring speaker tailored for mixing and mastering, with an extended frequency response and a highly stable stereo image.

A studio speaker for sound engineers who want to verify every mixing decision

The Focal Trio11 Be is aimed at producers, mixers, and post-production studios seeking a monitor capable of remaining clear at low volume, while retaining a reserve of level and impact to work at realistic levels. Its high SPL and extended response make it comfortable both in nearfield and midfield, depending on the control room size and listening distance.

The FOCUS mode facilitates immediate control of the compatibility of your balances (vocals, snare, bass, central elements) and the perception of low-mids. This is a concrete asset for gaining reliability during validations: if your mix "holds up" in FOCUS, it is very likely to translate well on simpler systems, while maintaining the precision of a 3-way monitor for critical adjustments.

Technologies, amplification, and settings: precision, dynamics, and room adaptation

FOCUS mode: two complementary listening modes in one speaker

The Trio11 Be has the particularity of switching from 3 drivers to 2 drivers. In practice, you alternate between a full 3-way listening (for bass depth, separation of layers, and detailed analysis) and a 2-way listening (FOCUS) designed for comfortable and quick comparison. This change of perspective helps detect low-mid excesses, level imbalances, and center placement issues without leaving your working position.

Class G amplification: power reserve and transient control

To power its transducers, the Trio11 Be relies on Class G amplification for bass and midrange, combined with Class AB amplification for the tweeter. This architecture aims to combine efficiency, dynamics, and control to maintain a firm low-end response and excellent transient clarity. The result: monitoring capable of handling long and dense sessions while remaining precise on attacks (kick, bass, percussion) and micro-variations (reverbs, note tails, automation).

TMD and NIC technologies, optimized ports, and decoupling: cleaner and more stable listening

Focal integrates here the TMD and NIC technologies, combined with optimized ports to promote dynamic control and solid bass definition. The goal is to limit coloration and improve clarity, especially in sensitive spectrum areas where translation and listening fatigue occur. The optimized decoupling of the midrange driver (with silent blocks) also contributes to the cleanliness of the midrange register, essential for judging vocals, guitars, pianos, and the overall presence of a mix.

Orientation and calibration: easier integration in the studio

Thanks to its rotatable baffle for the midrange and tweeter, the Trio11 Be suits both horizontal and vertical installation, depending on your furniture and placement constraints. The equalizer settings allow fine-tuning of the response according to the room (reflections, proximity to walls, placement) to preserve tonal balance and stereo image at the listening position. Finally, the automatic standby improves daily comfort in a production environment.
