Novita 3.0: A Version Designed by GEWA to Combine Playing Tradition and Contemporary Design

The Novita 3.0 was designed and developed by Thomas Böhme (GEWA Adorf Product Manager) with a clear guiding idea: to offer an e-cello with a functional design, capable of preserving the ergonomics of a traditional cello while integrating a modern architecture. The "golden brown" aesthetic and the design scroll reflect a meticulous approach, while the carbon frame enhances the overall stability. The result: an instrument with a contemporary look but immediately reassuring playability for any cellist.

Who Is This E-Cello For and What Are Its Uses?

This Novita 3.0 is aimed at musicians who want to practice more often (and more freely) without giving up essential sensations: posture, bow hold, and left-hand references. It is particularly suitable for intermediate to advanced cellists seeking a reliable instrument for home, stage, rehearsals, or travel, but it is also very relevant for a motivated student guided by a teacher.

Regarding styles, its configuration makes it comfortable for both classical repertoire (intonation work, bowing, rhythmic precision) and contemporary contexts: pop, film music, folk, experimentation, or playing in amplified groups. The Aux-in input facilitates "play-along" practice sessions: you play along with backing tracks while maintaining control over your listening.

Sound

On an e-cello, the sound personality depends as much on the structure as on the pickup system. Here, the basswood body combined with a maple back and a solid maple neck provides an interesting balance: generally clear and direct response, with a feeling of stability under the left hand. The alcohol-based varnish, which leaves the grain visible, also emphasizes the "instrument" dimension rather than "mere electronics."

The core of the sound rendering comes from the Piezo system : fixed directly on the bridge (choice of left or right side), it transmits a precise image of attack and articulation, with excellent clarity in headphone use and a strong presence when amplified. The Korolia bridge (specific for GEWA) contributes to this transmission, and the Aurora Larsen strings provide a consistent response, useful for maintaining a homogeneous feel across all strings. Finally, the dedicated output allows you to tailor usage: silent with headphones or ready for the amp, depending on your context.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To effectively protect the instrument during transport, prioritize a GEWA case or gig bag : this model is announced as compatible with all GEWA cases and gig bags. For any other accessory (battery, cables, headphones, bow), checking formats and connectors is still advised to exactly match your playing setup.
