What Harrison 32Classic Is For

Harrison 32Classic is a channel strip plug-in designed to bring the logic and feel of an analog console channel strip to every track in your session. It is aimed at both mixing and quick decision-making in production: you insert one strip per channel, sculpt the sound, control dynamics, and add just the right amount of character to bring your session closer to a coherent "console" sound.

Whether you're working on pop vocals, rock guitars, acoustic drums, synths, or podcasts, the main advantage is centralizing essential processing in a single tool. The result: a smoother workflow, fewer windows, and a processing chain designed like a real console, with a sonic signature inspired by the Harrison 32Classic.

Main Features

Analog Color and Feel via Drive

The Drive parameter reproduces the coloration of a console preamp: it introduces controlled harmonic saturation, useful for adding density in the low-mids, bringing a source "forward" in the mix, or simply breaking up an overly clinical sound. On a vocal, it can help stabilize presence without over-EQ; on a bass, it enhances clarity; on a bus (drums, instruments), it provides subtle glue.

Gate/Expander: Cleaning, Control, and Creativity

The gate/expander section offers many configuration options to cleanly manage bleed and background noise, or conversely to accentuate rhythmic impact. In expander mode, you can preserve the naturalness of a take (toms, snare, vocals) while reducing unwanted sounds between phrases. In tighter gate mode, you get precise control, useful on live takes or very dynamic sources.

3-Mode Compressor: From Transparency to Impact

The compressor section provides three complementary behaviors to suit your mixing goals. The Comp mode is a classic, versatile compression style, ideal for "holding" a track and giving it a steady foundation. The Level mode offers more subtle control, designed to gently compensate for volume fluctuations related to performance without crushing expression. The Limit mode acts as a fast, aggressive limiter: perfect for taming harsh transients, solidifying a percussive track, or securing a bus when firm control is needed.

4-Band EQ + Filters: Precision and Musicality

The EQ section combines 4 parametric bands with high-pass and low-pass filters to clean, balance, and highlight the essentials of a source. You can remove muddiness in the low-mids, tame harshness in the highs, open up the air, or focus presence, all within a "channel strip" logic that favors quick decision-making. Combined with Drive and dynamics, the EQ becomes a complete sculpting tool, effective both for corrective and tonal purposes.

Routing: Free Section Order for a Customized Workflow

A key feature of the plug-in is the ability to freely define the order of sections in the Routing area. This allows you to adapt the strip to your method: for example, placing the EQ before compression to shape what triggers gain reduction, or reversing the order to compress first then refine the tone. This flexible routing helps reproduce console habits but also explore more modern chains, all within a single plug-in.
