Essential Information About the Ibanez AJ70M2E LTD Edition Pearl White High Gloss Guitar

  • Jumbo Body + Solid Sitka Spruce Top: strong projection, wide dynamics, and great volume reserve for both pick playing and fingerpicking.

  • Stage-Ready Electro-Acoustic: Ibanez T-bar undersaddle pickup and Ibanez AEQ-TP2 preamp with built-in tuner and 2-band EQ.

  • Modern Comfort: AJ neck in nyatoh, laurel fingerboard with 15.75" / 400 mm radius, and neck joint at the 14th fret for easier access to the upper frets.

  • Limited Pearl White High Gloss Finish: premium look, glossy, and immediate presence under the stage lights.

An Ibanez "Limited" Jumbo Designed for Amplified Playing

With the AJ70M2E LTD Edition, Ibanez offers an electro-acoustic Jumbo that focuses on two key points: a luthiery oriented towards projection (wide format, solid top) and a simple and effective electronic setup to transition seamlessly from home to stage. The Pearl White High Gloss finish reinforces this positioning: a guitar that embraces its style and stands out visually while staying focused on the essentials-sound and ease of use.

Who Is It For, and What Styles?

The Jumbo format of this AJ70M2E is particularly suited for guitarists seeking a full, generous acoustic that excels at strumming. It's an excellent choice to accompany vocals (pop, folk, acoustic rock, variety, worship), with a solid low-end foundation and present highs. In fingerstyle, the size delivers real depth, and the electronics maintain clear definition when plugged in.

In terms of playability, it remains accessible: nut width of 43 mm / 1.69", standard scale length, and a comfortable radius for transitioning between open chords, barre chords, and rhythmic playing. Intermediate players will especially appreciate its "studio/demo/rehearsal/stage" versatility thanks to the built-in tuner and outputs ready for the mixing console.

A Wide and "Full-Size" Sonic Signature

The acoustic foundation is a solid Sitka spruce top, a tonewood known for its very wide response: clear and bright highs, responsive mids, and a bass that holds up well when attacked with a pick. On a Jumbo body, this solid top makes even more sense: it delivers a sensation of big breath, with projection that easily fills the room.

The okoumé back and sides contribute to a warmer, woodier tone, with a pleasant attack when played softly and convincing presence when strummed hard. The Sitka/okoumé pairing offers a balanced output: enough brightness to cut through a mix, but with a rounded foundation that avoids harshness.

The nyatoh neck adds a rich mid-low register, and the laurel fingerboard contributes to the warmth and natural feel of the attack. The laurel bridge promotes direct vibration transfer, while the Ibanez AdvantageTM bridge pins secure string installation and simplify changes-a real plus for regular players.

Plugged in, the AJ70M2E features an Ibanez T-bar Undersaddle pickup designed to faithfully capture the guitar's character. The Ibanez AEQ-TP2 preamp offers simple yet musical control via Volume, Bass, Treble, and includes a clear tuner, ideal for quick adjustments between songs. The presence of a balanced XLR output and a 1/4" jack output facilitates integration both on acoustic amps and directly to the PA system.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original feel and balance, choose a set of acoustic strings with gauges 12-53 (the guitar is strung with .012/.016/.024/.032/.042/.053). Also, have a spare 9V battery for the preamp. Finally, depending on your setup, a 6.35 mm jack cable (1/4" output) and/or an XLR cable (balanced output) are the most straightforward options to fully utilize the connectivity.
