Ibanez Mode: a modern 5-string built for performance

The Mode series focuses on ergonomics and efficiency, with a decidedly contemporary approach: immediate playability, natural balance, and finishes oriented towards real use (rehearsal, live, recording). In this vein, the MDM1305 positions itself as a precise and intuitive 5-string bass, designed to chain sets without fatigue and deliver a usable signal, from raw sound to sculpted tone.

Which bassists and styles is it for?

The MDM1305 is aimed at intermediate to expert bassists (and highly motivated beginners) seeking a responsive, comfortable 5-string rich in adjustments. The low B string opens up playing for modern pop, R&B, gospel, funk, fusion, rock, or metal, both fingerstyle and pick playing, with a clean slap as soon as the attack becomes more pronounced.

The sound

Ash provides a clear attack and great definition, ideal for maintaining presence in the mix, while the torrefied maple neck and fingerboard promote a quick response and controlled sustain. The two Delta S5J pickups offer a precise and articulated tone, with firm lows, present mids, and a sculpted high end. The Ibanez Sonitech S preamp allows effective adjustment of bass, mids, and treble, complemented by a Hexa Mid mid selector (H bank and L bank) to place the bass exactly in the mix. The bypass EQ (push/pull) adds a true passive mode with an overall tonal shift, while the 34" scale length and MR5S bridge ensure even tension and a sharp attack, particularly appreciated on a 5-string.

Recommended compatible accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original setup, a 5-string D'Addario EXL165-5 string set (with .130 for the low B) is a coherent option. In addition to the included gig bag, a hard case Ibanez MRB350C is recommended if you seek reinforced protection for transport.
