A PS at the Heart of Ibanez DNA: The Paul Stanley Legacy

The PS120 is part of the PS series associated with Paul Stanley, featuring an iconic aesthetic and technical choices focused on performance. This version emphasizes meticulous craftsmanship (set-in neck with a smooth heel) and simple, effective electronics designed to deliver "plug-and-play" feel both on stage and in the studio.

For Which Guitarist and Styles?

The PS120 is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an expressive, comfortable electric guitar that feels immediately familiar for rock tones. It excels in classic rock, hard rock, 70s/80s rock, and any context where solid rhythm, singing leads, and a strong presence in the mix are desired.

Sound Characteristics

The combination of a maple top and okoumé body provides clarity and bite in the attack while maintaining a lively midrange. The set-in neck promotes natural sustain and a more "connected" feel between notes, ideal for solos and sustained chords. The ebony fingerboard, with its quick response, enhances precision and definition, especially appreciated in tight rhythmic playing.

Regarding pickups, the Seymour Duncan '59 Model in the neck position delivers an open, warm, and articulate tone, perfect for round cleans and expressive leads. The Seymour Duncan Custom 5 at the bridge offers more body and punch, with solid lows and present highs for cutting riffs. The wiring remains straightforward: a 3-position selector (neck, middle, bridge) and 3 knobs (tone, bridge volume, neck volume) to quickly shape your dynamics.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay close to the original setup, favor a set of D'Addario EXL110 strings with a gauge of 10-46. Additionally, a standard-sized pick and a classic strap are perfectly suited for daily use (rehearsal, stage, studio).
