For Which Type of Bassist and Styles?

This bass is particularly aimed at beginner to intermediate bassists who want to explore multiple tonal colors with a straightforward feel, but it also works well as a versatile backup instrument for more advanced players. The P/J configuration works very well in rock, pop, funk, indie, and variety styles: the P-style pickup provides the "body" and foundation, while the J-style pickup adds definition and attack depending on the mix.

The Sound

The mahogany body promotes a warm grain and a strong presence in the low-mids, helping the bass stay solid within the band even at moderate volume. The TMB4 maple neck adds clarity to the attack and a livelier response, while the rosewood fingerboard slightly rounds off the high end for a pleasant feel and a less aggressive tone.

On the electronics side, the Dynamix P/J pickups allow switching from a thick and punchy sound (dominated by the P-style pickup) to a more articulated and precise tone (thanks to the J-style pickup). The Custom Electronics 2-band EQ makes it easy to adapt to the amplifier and style: more bass for a massive foundation, or more treble to highlight fingerstyle playing and attacks.
