A Modern Soloist: Jackson's "High-Speed" DNA in American Series Form
With its Soloist format, Jackson stays true to the spirit of "superstrats" designed for fast and precise playing. This American Series Soloist SL2 DX HT emphasizes high-end craftsmanship and technical choices focused on efficiency: through-neck for sustain, ebony fingerboard for attack, locking hardware and hardtail bridge for impeccable tuning stability, all in a sleek and aggressive Satin Black finish.
For Whom and Which Styles?
This electric guitar is aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a fast, stable, and precise instrument for both pick and legato playing. Ideal for metal, hard rock, prog, and fusion, it remains very comfortable when switching from tight riffs to singing leads, thanks to its Seymour Duncan pickup duo and multiple combinations via the 5-position selector.
The Sound
The alder body provides an effective balance: present mids, clean lows, and clear highs, perfect for saturated tones that remain defined. The 3-piece maple through-neck (with graphite reinforcement) promotes generous sustain and a very direct response, while the ebony fingerboard enhances attack and precision, particularly appreciated for palm mutes and fast passages.
Regarding pickups, the Seymour Duncan JB TB-4 at the bridge delivers a punchy drive, easy harmonics, and excellent bite for riffs and solos. The Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1N at the neck offers a rounder, more musical texture for leads and cleans. The 5-position selector allows exploration of coil-split style combinations (positions 2 and 4) and bridge/neck blends (position 3), complemented by Volume and Tone controls for quick tonal shaping.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
The guitar comes strung with nickel plated steel .009-.042 strings (0.009"-0.042" / 0.23-1.07 mm): you can keep this gauge for a fast feel or switch to a heavier gauge if tuning lower and wanting more tension. The rigid Jackson Foam-Core Case is included for transport and protection.
