A direct tribute to the first San Dimas: the Pro Origins 1985 series

The Jackson Pro Origins 1985 pays homage to the brand's early DNA in Southern California, with a "Los Angeles 80's" style aesthetic and performance-oriented design choices. Designed as a nod to the instruments that accompanied the explosion of hard rock and metal, it incorporates the San Dimas codes (alder body, maple fingerboard, black inlays) while integrating modern specifications, notably a Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo and playability calibrated for speed.

Who is this San Dimas SD1 HH for?

This electric guitar is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want a riff and solo machine, comfortable in metal, hard rock, heavy, and modern styles requiring excellent tuning stability. The locking Floyd Rose requires a slightly more technical approach (setup, string changes), but it is also essential to fully exploit 80's style vibrato playing.

The sound

The alder body provides a very effective balance: firm lows, present mids, and a clear attack, ideal for articulate distortion and precise rhythms. The maple fingerboard enhances definition and "snap," helping harmonics stand out and notes remain clear in a dense mix. The HH configuration (Jackson J-90C at the bridge, Jackson J-50N at the neck) favors power, sustain, and smoothness: at the bridge, you get a sharp tone for palm mutes and incisive leads; at the neck, a rounder register for singing solos and legato passages. The 3-position selector, combined with Volume and Tone controls, allows quick switching from aggressive drive to a thicker, more expressive sound.

Recommended compatible accessories

This guitar comes with a Jackson gig bag. To stay within the original specifications, you can use .009-.042 electric strings (nickel steel): this is the indicated gauge, ideal for maintaining the feel and balance of the tremolo.
