A Modern Soloist, Built for Performance in the Pro Plus Series
The Soloist is one of Jackson's most iconic shapes: a silhouette designed for access to high notes, precision, and technical playing. This Pro Plus Series Soloist SLA2 incorporates the brand's "high performance" fundamentals (neck-thru construction, Floyd Rose hardware, Seymour Duncan duo) and pairs them with a voiced nyatoh body and a glossy Red Crystal finish, delivering a look as bold as its specifications.
For Whom and Which Styles?
Designed for intermediate to expert guitarists, the SLA2 excels in metal, hard rock, prog, and any genres requiring sharp attacks, firm palm-mutes, and impeccable pitch accuracy on bends. The 5-position selector switch and coil-splitting combinations expand the palette for precise cleans, cutting arpeggios, and more nuanced rhythms in modern rock and fusion.
The Tone
The nyatoh provides a balanced foundation with present mids, ideal for maintaining body under heavy saturation, while the ebony fingerboard enhances attack, definition, and "snap" in the highs. The neck-through construction promotes generous sustain and excellent vibration continuity along the entire neck. On pickups, the Seymour Duncan JB TB-4 at the bridge delivers strong output with rich harmonics and great precision for rhythm playing, while the Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1N at the neck offers a more open register, perfect for fluid leads and rounder cleans. The Floyd Rose 1000 adds a firm attack feel and valuable stability whenever the vibrato is engaged.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To maintain original feel and Floyd Rose balance, prefer .009-.042 gauge strings (nickel-plated steel), like the factory-installed gauge.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Jackson Soloist HH Pro Plus EBO Red Crystal suitable for metal?
This model is suitable for metal, hard rock, and prog genres thanks to the Seymour Duncan JB TB-4 bridge pickup, designed for tight attacks and solid palm-mutes. The nyatoh body maintains present mids under distortion.
Which Seymour Duncan pickups are equipped on this Soloist?
The HH configuration combines a Seymour Duncan JB TB-4 at the bridge and a Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1N at the neck. A 5-way selector switch provides access to both humbuckers, their combinations, and positions using one coil from each pickup.
Does the Floyd Rose 1000 maintain tuning stability with intensive use of the tremolo?
The Floyd Rose 1000 Series is a recessed double-locking system, complemented by a locking nut from the same series. This setup is designed to preserve tuning stability during tremolo use. Nickel steel strings in .009-.042 gauge are recommended to maintain the original balance.
