CURV 500: a compact line array format designed for field constraints
The CURV 500 was designed to meet a very current demand: achieving wide coverage and controlled projection in a truly portable format. Its approach stands out with an expandable system based on stackable satellites (lockable) and a simple connection thanks to the SmartLink adapter. The result is a coherent solution, designed to quickly switch between configurations while maintaining minimal footprint.
Developed in Germany, the LD Systems CURV 500 AV Set follows an "all-in-one" logic: the subwoofer not only handles the bass but also centralizes amplification and mixing, reducing ancillary equipment and speeding up setup.
For whom and for what uses?
The CURV 500 AV Set is aimed at musicians, DJs, service providers, speakers, and venues seeking a compact sound reinforcement system capable of delivering clear and balanced sound. Thanks to its advertised 110deg horizontal coverage and vertical directivity adapted to satellite stacking, it is particularly suitable for performances where you want to project without aggression: small and medium stages, corporate events, bars/concepts, animations, as well as certain fixed installations where space must remain discreet.
With an effective power of 380 W and a peak sound pressure level of 122 dB SPL, it is also relevant when a mobile system with headroom is needed, while remaining easy to transport and deploy.
Technologies and features: efficiency, quick setup, and control
WaveAhead: a signature focused on definition and coherence
Each satellite in the line array integrates a 4-inch midrange speaker and a triple 1-inch tweeter, utilizing WaveAhead technology. This architecture aims to provide a defined sound with a well-balanced response and sharp attack, while maintaining an extremely compact format (12 x 12 x 12 cm per satellite). The goal is clear: to achieve a sound projection that remains intelligible even when the configuration must be light and fast.
SmartLink: a truly practical "plug and play" assembly
The SmartLink concept facilitates the setup of the line array: satellites connect via a dedicated adapter designed for quick, clean, and coherent assembly. This approach reduces handling, limits cabling errors, and speeds up configuration changes between rehearsal, soundcheck, and show.
Subwoofer: the system's nerve center
The bass reflex subwoofer, equipped with a 10-inch woofer, integrates the system's Class D amplification and comprehensive DSP processing. You benefit from a multiband limiter and protections (short circuit, overheating, overload) to secure operation under real conditions. For control, the built-in 4-channel mixer, Bluetooth, and 16-bit digital effects presets (16 presets) allow managing a lightweight setup without an external console, while maintaining quick adjustments via the 4 system DSP presets.
Ergonomics designed for mobility
With the M20 threaded base for speaker poles, 3 ergonomic handles, and comprehensive connectivity, the CURV 500 AV Set is tailored for mobile setups. The AV pack includes two SmartLink adapters, two speaker support bars, and two cables, enabling a quick start to any gig without multiplying accessories.
