The approach is deliberately pedagogical: each stylistic figure is first presented clearly and repeatedly to be assimilated without tension, then integrated into a more elaborate syntax throughout the pieces, as form and duration grow in scope.
The inspiration draws from the native fauna of Argentina and its evocative power: each duo aims to suggest a color, character, and energy, while serving a concrete musical objective. The piano plays a central role, alternately as rhythmic driver, harmonic support, and conversational partner, while the melodic instrument (of choice) develops singing, breathing, and line leading.
The compositions are divided into two groups broadly corresponding to the end of the 1st cycle and the 2nd cycle for the first collection, then the 3rd cycle for the second. The final pieces stand out by a more accomplished form, close to the "complete" tango, synthesizing the turns worked on in previous pages. The indicated tempos remain deliberately flexible: the goal is to establish autonomous tempo management, stable and comfortable, for expressive and lively playing. These works were created following a commission from the CRD of Gennevilliers, on April 16, 2022.
