A "bridge" flute for a smooth introduction to the transverse flute

The TooT was designed as an intermediate step between initial discovery instruments and the "classic" transverse flute. Its educational purpose is to help understand posture, hand placement, and the first fingering reflexes, while preparing the transition to a curved head flute (often chosen for younger players) and then to a student model. The silicone keys, also present on instruments from the same family (DooD, Recorder+), fit this logic: facilitating the first sounds and reducing difficulties related to hole sealing.

For whom and in which musical contexts?

This children's transverse flute is primarily aimed at beginners from 5 years old, in musical awakening classes, first year of music school, or at home with parental support. It is particularly suitable for playful approaches (simple melodies, rhythmic work, breath games) while remaining relevant for first steps in simple repertoires: nursery rhymes, beginner ensemble music, and initial pedagogical pieces. Thanks to the second recorder-type mouthpiece, the child can focus on musicality and fingering before fully mastering the specific embouchure of the transverse flute.

Sound and design

The TooT aims for immediate ease of use: the "small transverse flute" format is designed for young physiques, and the silicone keys provide concrete help with sealing, often a tricky point at the beginning. The instrument thus promotes simpler sound production and more stable notes when fingers do not yet perfectly cover the holes. The addition of a recorder-type mouthpiece is a real asset for starting out: the child more easily produces a sound, gains confidence, and can then gradually switch to the transverse mouthpiece to refine attack, breath control, and projection.

Recommended compatible accessories

To assist with daily maintenance, a microfiber cloth (to wipe the instrument after playing) is a simple and useful choice. For other items (swabs, cleaning rods, cases), since compatibility may vary depending on the exact size, it is best to check dimensions and the disassembly system before choosing a dedicated accessory.
