A Revisited Custom 24: PRS DNA with a Semi-Hollow and Piezo Dimension

Inspired by the spirit of the Custom 24, the iconic model introduced by PRS in 1985, the SE Custom 24 Semi-Hollow Piezo retains the fundamentals that made the series successful: modern ergonomics, maple top, and dual humbucker configuration. Here, the semi-hollow construction adds air and vibration to the attack, while the integration of the piezo extends the sonic palette towards more "acoustic" colors without changing guitars. The result: a PRS SE designed to cover a full set, from spacious cleans to saturations, with a real bonus of textures.

For Which Guitarists and Styles?

This guitar is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want a unique instrument capable of fulfilling multiple roles: rhythm, lead, atmospheres, and "unplugged" style accompaniment. The 24 frets and Wide Thin neck promote fluid playing in rock, pop, fusion, funk, modern metal, and worship music. The humbuckers' split via push/pull also allows for clearer, sharper sounds, very useful for arpeggios or chicken picking.

The Sound

The combination of a flamed maple top and mahogany body delivers a very effective balance: precise attack, rich mids, and generous sustain. The semi-hollow format adds extra resonance, with a more open feel on clean tones and a nice roundness on sustained notes. The two PRS 85/15 "S" humbuckers cover a wide spectrum, from defined cleans to articulate saturations, and their split (push/pull on the tone) adds airier options. The LR Baggs/PRS Piezo completes the set with an exploitable "acoustic" alternative, made even more practical thanks to the separate volumes and two jack outputs: you can blend the signals on one output or send the magnetic pickup to a guitar amp and the piezo to a DI or acoustic system. A welcome safety feature: when using only the magnetic output, the piezo (and its battery) is bypassed, allowing you to keep playing even if the battery is dead.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original specifications, plan for a set of electric strings in gauge 10-46 (the same as factory-installed). A guitar stand and a strap are also simple and relevant choices for transport and daily practice. A gig bag is already included.
