Summary of This Method

Mitchell on Trumpet - Book 2 is aimed at the motivated trumpeter who wishes to follow a reference method, regarded by many educators as one of the most comprehensive approaches for trumpet. This second volume resumes the course at Lesson 27 and unfolds 19 lessons (from #27 to #45), establishing a solid practice routine focused on quality of technique and consistency of results. The method explores "all phases of playing" through progressive exercises: technical setup, coordination, precision, flexibility, and endurance, with constant attention to the embouchure to develop and maintain it strong and flexible.

Continuing in this vein, the student tackles more advanced concepts while methodically building their range up to the High C. The approach favors step-by-step learning, encouraging rigorous and organized practice, in the spirit of the maxim attributed to Harold "Pappy" Mitchell: perfect practice leads to perfection, careless practice leads to mediocrity, and no practice leads to nothing. Since every musician progresses at their own pace, the method invites establishing a schedule adapted to one's strengths and challenges, transforming daily work into measurable progress.

To enhance the experience, the audio CD features accompaniment by Chris Tedesco, who plays and illustrates excerpts from each selected lesson, guiding the student from beginning to end. A valuable asset for working on sound, phrasing, and accuracy of musical intention, while maintaining a clear direction. This volume is ultimately part of Harold Mitchell's legacy and his desire to pass on his work to future generations of trumpeters.
