Evolution Wireless Digital: the evolution of a range that has become a standard on set
With Evolution Wireless Digital, Sennheiser brings the Evolution Wireless ecosystem into a 100% digital generation, designed for current uses: lightweight shoots, live performances, corporate events, and installations. The approach is modular (receiver, transmitter, capsule/microphone), but the EW-D ME2 set aims for simplicity: a complete "voice" package based on the ME 2, an omnidirectional lavalier microphone known for its versatility.
This series also incorporates design principles previously associated with higher-end ranges from the brand, notably a grid-based tuning logic and a workflow focused on speed. The result: a system that is easier to deploy without multiplying technical operations, while remaining suitable for demanding RF environments.
For voice, interviews, and stage: who is the EW-D ME2 SET for?
The Sennheiser EW-D ME2 SET is intended for all situations where a clear, stable, and unrestricted voice is needed: presentations, conferences, streaming, video recording, interviews, theater, houses of worship, or hosting. The lavalier format allows maintaining a discreet appearance on camera while ensuring consistent sound capture, even when the speaker turns their head or moves around.
Thanks to its bodypack transmitter, the set also adapts to costumes and stage outfits: the ME 2 microphone is wired, the transmitter is placed on the belt or in a pocket, allowing quick setup between speakers. The rack-mountable mono receiver is suitable for both fixed control rooms and fly-racks for events.
Features designed to save time and secure the RF link
Digital UHF: signal cleanliness and reliability in real conditions
The digital platform is designed to limit common issues encountered in analog systems (hiss, interference, artifacts related to interference). The UHF transmission provides a solid foundation in range, stability, and expansion possibilities when adding other systems on the same site.
The system boasts a dynamic range of 134 dB (transmitters), preserving the nuances of dynamic speech and better handling level variations without premature clipping sensation.
Smart Assist: a "sound engineer" accessible from your smartphone
Bluetooth Low Energy enables access to the Sennheiser Smart Assist app: convenient for speeding up setup, checking settings, remotely controlling certain parameters, and avoiding navigating complex menus during shooting. This is especially useful on fast shoots, events with quick transitions, or sets where you need to be operational within minutes.
Scalability: designed for multi-system configurations
The EW-D is designed to scale: the 56 MHz band of the R1-6 (520 - 576 MHz) version allows, depending on RF context and planning, up to 90 channels announced. The system also allows selecting up to 2,240 frequencies and can support up to 24 wireless systems per frequency band. This approach facilitates expanding a microphone fleet for an event or installation while maintaining a quick deployment method.
Battery life: adaptable to the field (rechargeable or batteries)
Depending on your organization, you can prioritize rechargeable power or the security of consumables: the system offers up to 12 hours of autonomy with a lithium-ion battery, or up to 8 hours with AA batteries. A real advantage for adapting logistics (charging, rotation, availability) to the realities of the set.
