A bass designed in the "Jazz" spirit, with modern electronics
The Z3-5 follows the codes of a Jazz-style bass (body curves, pickguard, blend control), while adding a more contemporary approach thanks to full active electronics. The result: a versatile instrument, capable of covering traditional registers as well as sharper, hi-fi sounds, with immediate playability.
For which bassists and styles?
Thanks to its maple neck with a C profile and a 9.5" / 241 mm radius, the M. MILLER Z3-5 targets intermediate to advanced bassists looking for a comfortable and efficient 5-string. It is particularly well suited for funk, pop, rock, gospel, R&B, and session contexts where quick shifts from round tones to more percussive attacks are needed.
The sound
The swamp ash body provides a crisp attack, great clarity, and natural dynamics, highly appreciated for "punchy" and articulated sounds. The maple neck and fingerboard enhance precision and brightness, useful for both fingerstyle and slap playing. The Marcus Super-J Revolution pickups retain the characteristic Jazz tone (definition, growl, expressive mids) while the Marcus Heritage-3 preamp extends the bass/treble range and allows fine-tuning of the mids via the frequency control: ideal for moving from vintage tones to a more modern presence without losing the instrument's organic foundation.
