Indie Folk EZX is a virtual drum extension designed for productions where grain, controlled imperfection, and the feel of "real playing" take precedence over polish. It is particularly suited for indie folk, lo-fi, folk rock, and alternative rock tracks, but also for any creation seeking an intimate, textured, and expressive drum sound: acoustic ballads, minimalist arrangements, ambient passages, or on the contrary, more energetic "garage" style patterns. Thanks to natural recordings and characterful drums, you quickly get a drum kit that sits in the mix effortlessly, with the impression of a musician in the room.

A selection of vintage kits with strong character

This EZX highlights three Custom drum kits spanning three decades, each with a strong identity: a 1960s Gretsch Round Badge (sampled with sticks and mallets to vary attack), a 1950s Ludwig, and a 1940s Slingerland Rolling Bomber. The goal is not a "perfect" drum kit, but an inspiring one: round, breathing, sometimes rough, always musical.

A studio recording designed for organic sound

Captured at Avast Recording Co. in Seattle, the Indie Folk EZX favors a realistic recording aesthetic, with a sense of space that can be adapted to your needs. You can switch from a warm and intimate sound (ideal for vocals and acoustic instruments) to a more open and airy atmosphere to support broader arrangements, without losing the "live" coherence.

Additional instruments to enrich arrangements

To align with indie folk and modern songwriting conventions, the extension also includes percussion elements and drum alternatives: two tambourines, a tambourine jingle mounted on a hi-hat, an extra kick drum and snare drum, as well as a 28-inch floor tom. Enough to thicken a chorus, humanize a verse, or create subtle but decisive textures in the mix.

MIDI grooves included for faster composition

The provided MIDI files allow you to quickly lay down a rhythmic foundation, test different intentions (sparse verses, more open choruses, breaks), and then adapt the playing to your track. This is a valuable time saver for writing, preproduction, and demos, while retaining the ability to edit every nuance in your sequencer.
