A Portable Format at the Heart of the Range: The Balance Between Home Piano and Stage Piano

Designed for musicians who want a single instrument capable of everything, the XP2 positions itself as a portable 88-key digital piano: compact enough to accompany your travels, yet serious enough to support long-term progress. The idea is simple: maintain a credible playing feel, offer essential functions (split, layer, transposition, tuning), and add modern connectivity to effortlessly switch from headphone playing to amplification, or use with apps via Bluetooth MIDI.

Keyboard Design

The XP2 relies on an 88-key weighted keyboard with hammer action and simulated escapement to bring the attack and release closer to the feel of an acoustic piano. The Scaled Hammer Action technology reproduces progressive resistance (heavier in the bass, lighter in the treble), while the triple sensor improves repetition and velocity reading, useful for trills, repeated notes, and fine control of pianissimos. To adapt the instrument to your technique, the touch offers 5 levels (from super light to super heavy). Finally, the textured keys provide comfort and grip: synthetic ivory on the white keys and ebony on the black keys, pleasant during long sessions.

Sound Quality

The sound section focuses on essentials with 12 built-in sounds covering a wide musical range: grand piano, upright piano, electric piano, harpsichord, organs, strings, synth pads, bass, crystal, alto saxophone, and koto. The 189-note polyphony ensures secure playing with the pedal, layering, and dense passages while minimizing note dropouts. To energize practice and "fun" playing, you also have 12 drum rhythms and 30 demo songs. The sound output relies on a Texas Instruments preamplifier and a Dream 5708 DSP processor dedicated to samples and digital effects to maintain clear listening both on headphones and through the internal amplification.

Built-in Effects

  • Reverb: hall, church, plate, stage
  • Delay: 1 mode (echo)
  • Chorus: 4 levels
  • Brightness: 5 levels

Educational Functions

To structure your sessions, the XP2 includes a metronome with 9 accent types and an adjustable tempo from 20 to 280 bpm, ideal for improving rhythmic stability. The Layer and Split modes facilitate musical exploration (piano + strings, left-hand bass, etc.) without complexity, and the dual front headphone outputs make silent practice very convenient, including playing together with headphones (lessons, duets, accompaniment). A supplied adhesive strip helps memorize key combinations and quick access to settings.

Advanced Functions

The XP2 goes beyond a simple practice piano with features designed for creation and stage use: Layer (stacking 2 sounds), Split (2 zones with octave adjustment and distinct sounds), fine tuning from 415 to 460 Hz, transposition from -6 to +5 semitones, and internal recording of 1 song up to 18,000 notes. The auto sleep activates after 1 hour of inactivity. Connectivity-wise, Bluetooth Audio allows streaming your music to speakers, Bluetooth MIDI simplifies connection to compatible devices (learning, composing), and USB MIDI (type B) turns the keyboard into a controller for DAW use, plus line outputs for clean amplification or mixing console connection.
