From the MSP3 to the MSP3A: a modernized compact reference
The Yamaha MSP3A succeeds the very popular MSP3, retaining the "reference monitor" DNA that made it successful, while bringing concrete improvements for current uses. The most notable innovation is the integration of a specific Twisted Flare Port, designed to improve the clarity of the low end and reduce air flow noise. Yamaha also takes the opportunity to offer a simpler and more elegant design, easy to integrate on a production desk, a mobile control room, or a post-production setup.
Who is the MSP3A for and when to use it?
Designed for nearfield monitoring, the MSP3A targets producers, film composers, sound editors, content creators, and musicians who need consistent listening in a limited space. Its compact size makes it particularly suitable for small studios, editing stations, mobile configurations, and environments where speaker placement is constrained.
It is also very well suited for monitoring electronic instruments (keyboards, drum machines, synths) and surround or multi-speaker installations, especially when you are looking for homogeneous speakers that are easy to position and capable of maintaining a precise image at close range.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Yamaha MSP3A suitable for a small studio?
This model is designed for nearfield monitoring in small spaces. Its dimensions of 144 x 236 x 166 mm make it easy to place on a desk or mixing station.
What inputs are available on this monitor speaker?
A combo XLR/6.3 mm jack input allows connection to an audio interface, mixer, or monitor controller. An RCA input is also provided for sources equipped with this connection.
What is the power output and maximum sound level?
The built-in amplifier delivers 22 W, and the maximum stated level reaches 99 dB. This headroom is suitable for close listening work.
Can the bass be adjusted on the MSP3A?
Bass and treble control knobs are accessible on the front panel. They allow adapting the sound to the effects of a nearby wall or a reflective desk. The Twisted Flare Port helps reduce turbulence in the low frequency range.
Can it be used with a synthesizer or drum machine?
Use with electronic instruments is supported, notably thanks to the combo XLR/6.3 mm jack input. The 10 cm woofer and 2.2 cm dome tweeter cover a frequency response from 67 Hz to 22 kHz (-10 dB).
