PSR-E: Yamaha's "arranger keyboard" spirit for beginners

The Yamaha PSR-E360 fits within Yamaha's approach to portable keyboards focused on learning: immediate usability, versatile sounds, inspiring automatic accompaniments, and functions designed for regular practice. In the PSR-E range, it clearly targets users who want to learn keyboard, play their first pieces with both hands, or accompany songs with a full "band" (bass, drums, backing instruments) without additional equipment.

Keyboard design

With 61 keys (five octaves), the PSR-E360 offers a comfortable range to work on piano and arranger keyboard basics: melodies, chords, two-hand playing, and initial accompaniment concepts. Its key response (velocity sensitivity) allows volume variation depending on touch strength, an essential point to develop expression, precision, and control. The Duo mode splits the keyboard into two identical zones, useful for four-hand playing or face-to-face lessons, providing clear reference points for both student and teacher.

Sound quality

The AWM Stereo Sampling sound generation uses real instrument samples to deliver a pleasant and natural listening experience. The PSR-E360 offers 384 voices and 16 drum/SFX kits, covering pianos, keyboards, guitars, winds, strings, and percussion to diversify repertoires. The 32-note polyphony secures chords and denser passages, limiting note dropouts during style use and simple layering. For daily practice, the built-in amplification of 2.5 W + 2.5 W and the two 12 cm speakers provide clear sound, suitable for home training.

Educational functions

To structure learning, the PSR-E360 combines concrete and motivating tools. The built-in metronome helps stabilize timing, while the Listen and Learn, Timing, and Waiting modes guide practice by emphasizing listening, regularity, and correct rhythmic placement. The A-B Repeat function is ideal to isolate a difficult passage and repeat it until mastered. The Chord Dictionary supports learning chord positions, and transposition as well as tuning facilitate adapting to a voice, an instrument, or a piece played in another key.

Advanced functions

Auto accompaniment: 130 styles to play with drums, bass, and backing instruments, with ACMP ON/OFF, SYNC START, INTRO/ENDING, and MAIN/AUTO FILL controls to build a lively performance. Panel Sustain: note hold accessible directly without a pedal. Recording: 1 song, 1 track, capacity of about 300 notes to capture ideas, listen back, and improve. Connectivity: DC IN, headphone output (standard stereo jack) for silent playing, sustain pedal input, and AUX IN (stereo mini-jack) to play along with music from a smartphone or audio player.
