Essential Information About the Yamaha Series 200 Flute

  • Design Inspired by Series 300 and 400: a serious student flute, designed for fast and effective progress.

  • CY Headjoint: easy sound production, quick response, and naturally rich and warm tone.

  • Ergonomic Keywork: natural finger placement and precise "touch" sensation thanks to careful adjustments.

  • Excellent Intonation and Response: a reliable foundation for pitch work from the very first years.

A Yamaha Student Flute at the Heart of the Range: The DNA of Higher Series

The Series 200 follows Yamaha's manufacturing philosophy: consistent mechanics, coherent design, and meticulous finishing, with technical choices directly inherited from higher-end models. With its silver-plated nickel silver body and CY headjoint, it positions itself as an ideal flute for structured learning, maintaining an "instrument" feel (rather than an "entry-level model") from the first handling.

For Whom? An Ideal Flute for Beginners and Progression

This C flute is primarily aimed at beginners and intermediate players: students in conservatories, music schools, or self-study. The CY headjoint helps achieve a stable and centered sound more quickly, while maintaining a sufficiently agile response to support progress (scales, articulations, dynamics). It is perfectly suited for classical repertoire, ensemble music (wind orchestra, flute ensemble), and popular music.

Sound and Design

The CY headjoint, with its double tapered bore and specifically cut internal core, promotes easy sound production and immediate response: a real advantage for quickly establishing a stable airstream. The silver-plated nickel silver provides a solid feel and elegant aesthetics, while contributing to clear projection. The drawn and rolled tone holes contribute to a broader and brighter sound, with good homogeneity across registers, useful for working on timbre continuity and intonation.

The offset keywork improves hand comfort (especially for the left hand), and the open-hole keys encourage precise finger placement, essential for developing clean playing. The keys, designed for natural ergonomics, are carefully adjusted to achieve a balanced and consistent touch, facilitating coordination and speed in passages.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

For routine maintenance, using a cleaning rod (included) and a cleaning swab helps limit moisture inside the body after each session. The included case and cover ensure secure transport daily, both in class and rehearsals.
