A Redesigned H1 Format for XLR Inputs and Modern Workflows

The H1 XLR follows the spirit of compact, quick-to-deploy recorders while offering more "pro" connectivity thanks to its two lockable XLR-jack combo inputs. This approach positions it as a versatile solution for everything from lightweight reporting to filming, without the need for multiple adapters. The adoption of 32-bit floating point and class-compliant USB-C meets current needs, allowing easy switching between standalone recording and production on computer or smartphone.

Who Is It For and What Are Its Uses?

The Zoom H1 XLR is aimed at content creators, musicians, videographers, journalists, and podcasters who want reliable sound that is quickly usable, with controlled latency in interface mode. It suits voice recordings (interviews, dubbing, voice-over) as well as ambient captures, camera returns, or recording a mixing console at line level. Connected via USB-C to a phone, it becomes an effective ally for syncing audio and video or securing a live stream.

Key Features Designed for Quality, Simplicity, and Accessibility

32-bit Floating Point: More Peace of Mind on Levels

With 32-bit floating point, the H1 XLR helps preserve details over a wide dynamic range, reducing risks related to sudden level changes. A valuable asset in the field when there's no time to "chase" the perfect gain.

Preamps and Conversion: Clean Signal from the Source

With very low-noise preamps (-122 dB EIN) and sampling rates up to 96 kHz, the recorder aims for clear and faithful capture, suitable for voices as well as more nuanced sources. The two lockable combo inputs secure connections during transport.

Complete Connectivity and Dual Recorder/Interface Use

In addition to the XLR-jack combo inputs, the stereo 3.5 mm mini-jack input allows use of lavalier mics powered by PiP, or capturing a signal from a smartphone or camera return. Via USB, it can function as a 2-in/2-out audio interface (48 kHz) while simultaneously recording to microSD, convenient for keeping an independent backup.

User Comfort and Accessibility

The high-contrast OLED screen, French interface, and audio menu navigation (via headphone or speaker output) facilitate daily use, including for visually impaired users. Flexible power options (batteries or USB) adapt to shoots and mobile sessions.
