About the brand Ernie Ball
Once upon a time in a garage in California (it is said that all modern legends start like that), a bright but nonconformist young man opened in the mid-1950s the world's first store dedicated exclusively to the guitar universe.
At that time, music and playing techniques were changing, and guitarists were forced to use banjo strings (the thinnest available at the time) for lack of finding gauges fine enough to express their growing dexterity.
The bright young man, Roland S. Ball, better known as Ernie Ball, was in constant contact with these musicians and had the brilliant idea to meet their demand by creating in 1962 the first range of modern gauges: the Slinky.
At a time when the standard string gauge was 13-56 with a wound G, Ernie Ball was thus the first to offer modern gauges (based on 10-46) as well as single strings, paving the way for a faster guitar playing and... Rock'N Roll!
The continuation of this fabulous story remains marked by innovation with the recent introduction of the Cobalt and M-Steel sets.
