Korg started with one idea in mind: to use the latest technologies to create the most advanced electronic musical instruments, and to provide musicians access to the best. Since the company’s founding in 1963, this determination has remained unchanged. Over the years, Korg has earned a reputation as a leader in technology, ease of use, and sound quality.

The story begins at the very beginning of the 1960s: Tsutomo Katoh, the manager of a nightclub, observed a musician on stage accompanied by a simple rhythm box. After discussing the instrument’s limitations together, they were convinced they could drastically improve these products. In the following months, the team created Korg’s first product – the legendary Donca Matic. Tsutomo Katoh remained president and the driving force behind Korg until his death in March 2011.

As a company, the brand has a well-established heritage of innovation. Korg is credited with the first electronic tuner, the integration of a keyboard and vocoder in the VC-10, the introduction of a new family of instruments with the Electribe and the Kaoss, as well as pushing boundaries with the Wavedrum, and creating "workstations" with the M1 – which remains the best-selling workstation in history. This spirit continues today with products such as the KROSS, the Volca series, and many more.
