A "Nanobox" format designed for traveling light without sacrificing creativity
The Nanobox Tangerine embraces a decidedly nomadic approach: offering a true standalone sampling workstation, easy to carry, capable of integrating seamlessly into both a desktop setup and a travel configuration. Its minimalist interface (touchscreen, a few physical controls) prioritizes efficiency: selecting, editing, adjusting, and saving presets becomes second nature, even during improvised sessions.Who is it for and what are its uses?
This compact sampler is aimed at beginner to advanced producers and musicians who want to quickly capture ideas, build kits, launch loops, and transform recordings into musical material. It excels in electro, techno, ambient, hip-hop, synthwave, and sound design, both in studio (multi-sample libraries, preset organization) and live (touch/MIDI triggering, launch quantization, trigger modes). The 8 pads per preset allow switching from "one-shot" playing to a clip-oriented workflow, slicing, or live looping.Features and new additions
The Tangerine combines sample playback with "performance" logic. You can load highly detailed multi-sample libraries with up to 16 velocity layers and up to 576 WAV files in a single preset for realistic instrumental rendering. Each preset offers 8 configurable stereo pads (single or multiple samples, clips, slicers, new recordings), with trigger modes adapted to playing: trigger, toggle, gate, and piano (new). The editing capabilities are comprehensive: start position, length, pitch, level, filter, loop mode, launch quantization, ADSR, exclusive groups, clip synchronization, slice placement and sequencing, as well as MIDI note and channel mapping. For composition, sequencing supports up to 16 sequence layers per preset, and MIDI mappings facilitate more tactile control of common parameters.
On the recording side, each pad can be set to mono or stereo, with possible synchronization of start/stop points via clock, triggering by audio threshold, fixed recording duration for clean loops, and immediate playback after capture for live looping. You can record up to 4 hours, resample the main output without patching, automate multi-sample library recording via MIDI, then store everything as WAV files on microSD for easy transfer to a computer.

Questions frequently asked
Can the 1010music Nanobox Tangerine play multisamples?
Up to 576 WAV files can be grouped into one preset, with 16 velocity layers. Each preset includes 8 stereo pads configurable for single or multiple samples.
What is the sampler's polyphony?
Polyphony reaches 24 stereo voices for samples loaded into memory. When streaming from microSD, up to 8 large stereo samples can play simultaneously.
Is recording and live looping possible?
It is possible to record up to 4 hours of audio on microSD, in mono or stereo depending on each pad's setting. Triggering can occur via audio threshold and recording length can be set to create loops. The main output can also be resampled without additional patching.
What MIDI connectivity is available?
