Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

Designed as an entry point to professional amplification dedicated to acoustic instruments and vocals, the AER Alpha follows the brand's approach: a compact format, faithful reproduction, and connectivity designed for live use. Within the range, it stands as a versatile and portable solution, ready to amplify a club performance while remaining very simple to adjust.

Who This Amp Is For

The AER Alpha is aimed at acoustic guitarists, singers, and multi-instrumentalists who want a reliable combo for rehearsals, small venue concerts, showcases, and "one-man band" performances. Its clear and straightforward approach suits both intermediate musicians and professionals seeking a lightweight practice amp with a serious DI for the front of house.

In terms of styles, it excels whenever attack and timbre need to be respected: folk, acoustic pop, chanson, bluegrass, world music, or any setup involving ukulele, mandolin, banjo, violin, harmonica, and vocals.

Features and Innovations

With its two inputs featuring separate gain controls, the Alpha easily handles an instrument and a microphone. Input 1 offers a combined XLR/6.35mm Jack socket for high-quality balanced line or mic input and delivers 48V phantom power for condenser microphones. Input 2, in 6.35mm Jack format, is designed for high-impedance sources and includes high/low attenuation as well as 9V phantom power.

To quickly shape the sound, the 3-band EQ covers the essentials, complemented by the Colour function (a "mid-cut / treble-boost" type filter) useful for brightening a mix, softening an intrusive midrange, or adding presence to fingerstyle guitar. A digital reverb is built-in, and the send/return effects loop allows you to insert your pedals (delay, chorus, EQ, compressor) cleanly.

The connectivity is designed for the field: DI output to the console, line output, and headphone output for silent practice. A control pedal (footswitch) can toggle the internal/external effect on and off, handy for switching from a very natural sound to a more "dressed" tone with a single gesture.

Sound Character

The AER Alpha aims for a clean, precise, and dynamic reproduction, typical of combos designed for acoustic instruments and vocals: detailed clean tones, excellent clarity on short attacks (ukulele, mandolin, banjo), and a fast response that respects fingerpicking as well as pick playing. The 40W power combined with the 8-inch dual-cone speaker provides even projection and articulate sound, useful when you need to stay intelligible without pushing the volume too hard.

The headroom is suited to small gigs and rehearsals: the amp remains musical and controlled, while the Colour function and EQ allow you to place the instrument in the mix without harshness. The DI is a real asset for retaining that natural character on stage, while keeping the Alpha as a nearfield monitor.
