Summary of This Method

The Suzuki Method of Talent Education is based on a central idea: aptitude is not a "gift" reserved for a few, it is cultivated. Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, internationally renowned violinist and pedagogue, emphasizes the role of the environment and the deep joy an adult can experience by supporting a child's musical development. This approach aims both at instrumental progress and the expression of the most harmonious and positive aspects of the human being.

Students are guided by the so-called "mother-tongue" approach: listen regularly, memorize, reproduce, then refine. This logic fosters a solid foundation of fundamentals (tone, intonation, phrasing, articulation, posture), while establishing reassuring and motivating work habits. The repertoire is designed to continuously develop musicality and technique, with clear objectives at each stage.

The Suzuki Violin Schoolmaterials form a coherent set: violin parts (Vol. 1 to 10) and piano accompaniments (Vol. 1 to 10), allowing work on rhythmic precision and harmonic listening. Recordings are also available (cassettes and compact discs depending on the volumes), notably performed by Shinichi Suzuki and Koji Toyoda, as well as listening versions offered by David Cerone and David Nadien. Finally, the fundamental Suzuki materials are also available for other instruments, demonstrating the pedagogical scope of the method.
