Summary of This Book

This collection brings together a series of short pieces designed to accompany a step-by-step musical progression. It first features essential beginner repertoire tunes such as "Mary Had a Little Lamb," "Lightly Row," "Go Tell Aunt Rhody," and "Cuckoo," perfect for consolidating pulse, listening, and setup. The children's songs and traditional themes (including "Fireflies," "Kagome Kagome," "The Honeybee," "Long, Long Ago") allow working on expression with immediately memorable melodies.

The journey then enriches with more characterful pieces, notably the "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star Variations" attributed to Suzuki-Takahashi, which invites exploring different forms of variations and articulation on the same theme. The collection also offers pages from the classical and baroque repertoire, with Schubert's "Lullaby, Op. 98, No. 2," several minuets by J. S. Bach (including the "Minuet III" from the Suite in G minor, BWV 822, as well as minuets referenced Anh. II 114/Anh. III 183 and Anh. II 116), and a "Bourrée" by G. F. Handel taken from a G major sonata (Op. 1, No. 5).

Finally, pieces with a more narrative character such as R. Taki's "The Moon over the Ruined Castle" complete the set, bringing different melodic colors. Thanks to this diversity, this book is suitable both for individual practice and teaching, offering a motivating repertoire to develop reading, regularity, dynamics, and a sense of musical phrasing.
