Summary of This Method

The New International Edition of Suzuki Piano School, Volume 2 offers a progression faithful to the Suzuki approach, focused on listening, imitation, and building a solid piano technique through a carefully selected repertoire. This edition emphasizes a smoother study experience thanks to a modernized presentation and more readable engraving, particularly appreciated by students consolidating reading skills and hand independence.

The content has been slightly reorganized, with precise adjustments: some pieces from previous editions have been removed (such as the Mozart Minuet and the Bach Musette), while new pieces enrich the program's aesthetic and colors. Two 20th-century pieces by Béla Bartók (indicated in the table of contents) replace these removals, bringing a different rhythmic and harmonic language, ideal for developing the ear and articulation.

The volume gathers essential miniatures of the piano journey, blending classical, romantic, and pedagogical styles: Hummel (Écossaise), Lichner (A Short Story), Schumann (The Happy Farmer, Melody), J. S. Bach (Minuets BWV 822), Mozart (Arietta), von Weber (Cradle Song), Beethoven (Sonatina in G Major, Anh. 5 - Moderato, Romance), not to mention Bartók's pages (Hungarian Folk Song, Children at Play). This stylistic diversity helps the student work on phrasing, regularity, right/left hand balance, and touch quality.

Finally, the presence of a CD performed by Seizo Azuma is a valuable reference for understanding the character of each piece, refining tempo, dynamics, and musical intonation. The book and CD can be purchased together or separately, depending on your lesson or home practice organization.
