Summary of This Method

This international edition of the Suzuki Violin School, Volume 4 is aimed at violinists progressing through the Suzuki path who wish to consolidate their musicality, intonation, and bow control through a progressive and motivating repertoire. True to Shinichi Suzuki's philosophy, learning is based on listening, immersion, and intelligent repetition: the student listens to the pieces, sings them internally, then constructs them on the violin with the teacher's help, in individual lessons and often in group workshops.

The content of this volume emphasizes sound quality, consistency of gesture, and musical expression, thanks to a new edition of the pieces incorporating revised fingerings and bowings. It also includes additional exercises (some attributed to Shinichi Suzuki) as well as useful guidance and suggestions to assist the teacher in technical and artistic progression.

Regarding repertoire, this volume offers essential pages to develop endurance, rhythmic precision, and style, including notably: Lullaby (Schubert), Lullaby (Brahms), movements from Seitz concertos (Concerto No. 2 in G major, 3rd movement; Concerto No. 5 in D major, 1st and 3rd movements), two movements from Vivaldi's A minor Concerto (arr. Nachéz), Perpetual Motion by Bohm, as well as the famous Double Violin Concerto by Bach (BWV 1043) presented in Violin I, Violin II parts and a combined version of both voices.

The included CD reinforces the Suzuki approach daily: it contains new recordings by Augustin Hadelich in collaboration with pianist Kuang-Hao Huang, and also offers piano-only accompaniment tracks to work on intonation, timing, and musical independence in a playing situation with accompaniment.
